What is a Traction Gas Spring?

 

Traction Gas Spring, also known as tension gas spring, pulling gas spring, tension gas struts, pulling tension gas struts, and pull gas struts, is an important component in modern industrial machinery. It is used to absorb and store the energy from motion and vibration, enabling it to suspend and balance components such as force-balanced doors, automated machine guards, and agricultural machinery. 

Traction gas springs work by trapping a mix of compressed nitrogen and hydrogen gas under high pressure, inside a cylindrical tube. As the gas expands, it creates a powerful downward force, making the spring both compact and reliable. The force from the spring can be added to with a mechanical strut or lever, and then quickly released by turning a release valve.
